Prayer for Peace In New Year
As we are about to begin a new year I felt it expedient to suggest that we end this year that has seen violence in many areas of the world and begin the new year, 2008, asking Almighty God to inspire all the leaders of the world’s nations and religions to find ways to bring about a time of peace and brotherhood to all the children of God. I humbly submit the following prayer for your consideration to pray every day.

A mission of the Franciscans of the Annunciation

Almighty and Merciful God, our father, send your Most Holy Spirit down upon us gathered here and all the leaders of all Christian churches, opening our minds and hearts to the truthful teachings of your beloved son, Jesus Christ, our redeemer and savior.
Help us and all to work together in renewing and restoring the One Holly Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by you and your beloved son when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles that first Pentecost.
By the gifts of the Holy Spirit gather all who believe the truth of Jesus teachings together to work in bringing about unity and to practice respect and dignity for all God’s children throughout the entire world.
Inspire all the leaders of the world’s nations to find a means of bringing about an end to the atrocities and horrors of war and the genocide being committed often in your name O God. Through the Holy Spirit, inspire all the peoples of the world to become more mindful of the needs of others especially the poor, aged, sick and downcast of the world.
Open the minds of all people to be more tolerant of the differences and the diversity you created O God. Instill deep within our hearts your wisdom and truth, we ask this in the name of your beloved son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and Holy Spirit.
